Visiting schools can help practitioners learn from great practice. We released a Schools to Visit guide last year for school designers and educators who want to see interesting school models in action. In response to great feedback and interest, we’ve added some schools and expanded descriptions of key attributes for our 2018 edition. Download a copy here.
This list has been sourced through our work taking educators to see great teaching and learning across the country, as well as recommendations from our partners and collaborators. The schools on this list are spread around the country and have unique models but share a commitment to engage students and prepare them to meet the demands of college and career.
Organized geographically, the list includes district, charter, and network schools. We’ve attempted to highlight a range of approaches, from schools that serve English language learners, to personalized and competency-based models, to alternative schools serving specific populations, and much more. While not exhaustive, this list can serve as a good starting point for practitioners as they determine the types of innovative practices they want to explore.
We hope you find this guide useful as you expand your knowledge of innovative and effective school practices. And please feel free to share this resource with your friends and colleagues.
