Springpoint’s statement: A message of solidarity

On June 3, Springpoint sent out the following message to our community along with a set of resources to support educators who are seeking to actively engage in anti-racism efforts. We know that many educators have been doing this work for decades and these resources can provide inspiration and practical guidance no matter where you are in the journey.

Springpoint stands in solidarity with the Black community and communities of color who continue to experience and fight against systemic racism, inequitable opportunities, and discriminatory violence. We recognize the anger and pain of the young people and practitioners across the country, and will continue to support efforts to build a more just world.

We firmly believe that Black lives matter. It is important we all reflect on that essential truth as educators and weave it into all aspects of practice. To support, empower, and amplify the voices and expertise of those working toward justice and equity—and to strengthen the anti-racism efforts of all practitioners—we are sharing a few practical resources below that we hope are useful.

Excellent schools and a truly equitable education system are critical in the fight for justice. We will keep supporting our partners to fundamentally reimagine high schools, working toward a day when every young person can succeed, and feel safe, seen, and empowered.

The work of anti-racism is lifelong and enduring, especially for any organization or school that works with young people. At Springpoint, we aspire to consistently understand how systems of oppression are replicated or addressed in our work—and we seek to change in response to new learnings and a deeper exploration of the inequities that systemically and adversely impact young people. We all have more work to do. So we’re as committed as ever to listening, learning, supporting our partners, and sharing resources on how practitioners can engage in critical conversations as we all work to build the future that our young people so deserve.
