Born and raised in Boston, MA, Lakeisha began her leadership journey at the age of 14 at nonprofit organization, The Food Project (TFP). In her 10 years at TFP she has had many roles, ranging from youth participant to the Greater Boston Youth Programs Coordinator. Lakeisha then furthered her education by earning her Masters Degree in Social Work from Simmons University, shifting her lens from community based organizations to schools. While working in the ‘traditional’ education models of middle and high schools, Lakeisha realized the structure of her job excluded students who struggle academically, socially, emotionally, or behaviorally. In 2020, she joined the Attleboro Community Academy (ACA) team, a grades 7-12 alternative school supporting students through competency based curriculum, flexible learning pathways, responsive teaching practices, and intensive student support services.
When Lakeisha isn’t at ACA she is playing and talking with her almost 2 year old daughter Khadija. Lakeisha enjoys everything food – she can cook, bake, or grill almost anything! If you enjoy talking about reality tv, current events, or documentaries; Keish is your girl!
Through the TLM Fellowship, Lakeisha hopes to gain skills through real world application, learn with & from individuals in the field to become an effective and efficient admin and positively change the lives of the youth in her communities.
