Susie is an educator living in Somerville, Massachusetts, and teaching in Lynn, Massachusetts. Susie, while not native to Massachusetts, has spent her five years of teaching experience in Lawrence and Lynn – first teaching middle school math and then transitioning to high school history. No matter the content or age Susie teaches, she incorporates authentic learning experiences through long-form projects, community involvement, and student choice. This philosophy comes from her education.
Growing up in Lexington, Kentucky, Susie attended a project-based STEM magnet program in a high school and worked as a student leader for a student voice nonprofit. Because of these opportunities, Susie learned firsthand how much meaningful educational experiences can shape a young person’s life. Susie graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2019 with a Political Science degree and moved to Massachusetts to serve in the Teach For America 2019 corps. While teaching she completed her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Teaching at Boston University.
When not working Susie loves to try new recipes, rewatch the West Wing, read books, and hang out with her cat, Biscuit!
